Using forge expertise, creativity, material knowledge, and the collaboration of team members to design forgings for our customers.

Major Position Responsibilities:
  • Design, improve and maintain Forge tooling and related processes.
  • Develop and improve inspection/test gauge equipment.
  • Provide manufacturing and maintenance support to improve reliability of equipment of facilities and equipment.
  • Provide training and mentoring to Operators, Technicians and Engineers as necessary.
  • Coordinate designs with other Forge personnel and departments to ensure successful completion of the entire manufacturing process and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales department and assist in their development and forging education as well as the development and use of the sales estimating system.
  • Interact with customers both in our environment and theirs, including traveling to their facilities as required.
  • Communicate with other departments, companywide, to learn how our forging operations may affect processing the customer’s parts. Learn to take into consideration the effect that we generate may be either better or worse when the process is viewed from start to ship.
  • Assist both inside and outside sales with customer relations. This task may include shop tours, teleconferences, and occasional travel to customer facilities as required.
  • Assist our forge departments to follow through with projects. This includes working with the forge engineers and forges crews to ensure the work is performed as planned while improving general forging skills and gaining feedback from their expertise.
  • Work with forge departments to maintain accurate and updated tooling charts.
  • Establish guidelines for forging processes, stock allowances, and other manufacturing processes that will dictate how a forging will be quoted or planned.
  • Participate in NAF functions, including Forge Engineering duties, quoting forgings, and designing tools and equipment.
  • Assist in designing new equipment, tools, and processes to foster continuous improvement.
  • Analyzing tool stresses, material deformation, and ability to discuss with technical expertise.
  • Experience with Deform metal forming simulation software is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications in MS Project.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to support projects and operations.
  • A basic understanding of financial ramifications associated with a forging design and how one can design for most economy or efficiency considering pre and post forging operations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have knowledge of large-scale forging processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and communicate recommendations effectively with others.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to collect and interpret intonation, apply criteria, and make recommendations.
