Description/Job Summary

PURPOSES SPECIFIC TO THE POSITION
To provide a broad range of support services to the Engineering department.

RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reports to Manager, Engineering Services.
  • Directs - none, except personnel who may be assigned from time to time.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with all persons, within and outside the cooperative, and with all firms, organizations, consultants, and other groups as deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must possess a relevant bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Must be willing to work toward obtaining an Arkansas Engineering license.
  • Requires possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Requires ability and willingness to maintain a neat workspace and organize both physical and electronic files and folders.
  • Requires some travel and commitments outside normal office hours.
  • Requires ability and willingness to prioritize and advance projects without close supervision.
  • Requires ability and willingness to learn and effectively utilize various computers, devices, software, and applications to complete responsibilities.
  • Requires ability and willingness to communicate and interact effectively with others.
  • Assists in the design for substation projects, transmission and distribution line projects, mapping or modeling projects, and other related or special projects.
  • Assists in collection of field data and the preparation of easements, contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications for substation projects, transmission and distribution line projects, mapping or modeling projects, and other related or special projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of planning studies, protection studies, environmental studies, and other related or special studies.
  • Researches new techniques, procedures, and specialized equipment making appropriate recommendations to the department manager.
  • Attends and participates effectively in various meetings and work sessions.
  • Assists in maintaining and updating system engineering records, construction records, and operating records, including but not limited to, maps, diagrams, reference material, equipment records, equipment settings, system computer models, construction progress reports, as-built drawings, substation and transformer data books, and inspection reports.
  • Assists in the supervision of construction projects by contractors and cooperative personnel to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, regulations, and all applicable codes.
  • Assist in investigating consumer service complaints and inquiries as applicable to engineering functions.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for the relocation of distribution and transmission lines for consumers, and local, state, and federal authorities.
  • Performs other duties as requested or required by the position including not limited to emergency and operational duties.
