Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design Engineer to work on space-based mission processing capabilities at the edge. This position will help our team evolve ground-based mission processing applications of remote sensing payloads onto flight hardware for onboard mission processing operations. This engineering position will work alongside research scientists, software engineers, and other FPGA engineers on the advanced programs and exploitation team.
In this role, the FPGA Design Engineer will be responsible for:

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design Engineer to work on space-based mission processing capabilities at the edge. This engineering position will work alongside research scientists, software engineers, and other FPGA engineers on the advanced programs and exploitation team.
In this role, the FPGA Design Engineer will be responsible for:
- Developing an understanding of R&D signal processing chains and implement for hardware processing
- Development, integration, and test of processor subsystem features and interfaces in FPGA hardware
- Requirements, FPGA code, and test bench development
- Integration, Test, and Verification
- Timing analyses
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline; or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Experience or coursework with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
- Experience or Coursework with C, C++, or Matlab
- FPGA knowledge
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret, thus US Citizenship is required.
- Proficient in Matlab & C++
- HLS skills (Vivado-HLS, Vitis-HLS)
- Knowledge of digital design, development, and simulation.
- Metrics collection, analysis, and reporting to senior leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in ASIC / FPGA life cycle (architecture, design, simulation, verification, validation, integration & test).
- Knowledge of space-grade/qualified FPGAs and ASICs.
- FPGA engineering process improvement activities.
- Model Based Systems Engineering tools
- GPU programming experience or knowledge
- Rad-Tolerant/Rad-Hard experience (TMR, safeFSM, etc)
- UVM (verification/testing) skills
