Job Description
The coolest jobs on this planet… or any other… are with Lockheed Martin Space.

At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin (LM) is a pioneer, partner, innovator, and builder. Our amazing team is on a mission to make a difference in the world, and every day we use our unique skills, talents, and experiences to design and build solutions to some of the world’s hardest engineering problems. NASA has called on industry to return humans to the moon, this time to stay, and LM intends to answer that call.

Do you want to be part of a culture that inspires employees to envision the impossible, perform with excellence and build incredible products? Do you have a passion for human space exploration and the evolution to a multi-planetary species? We provide the resources, inspiration, and focus—if you have the drive and courage to dream big, then we want to build a better tomorrow with you. LM is searching for the Vehicle Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) for the Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) Program.

As a Vehicle Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE), you will:

  • Own the contract specification and ultimately certify the space vehicle and associated ground infrastructure for flight

  • Function as the technical lead for the program system integrators to ensure that the required spacecraft functions are integrated and verified to meet the contract specification requirements

  • Work hand in hand with the program architect, system integrators, and other subject matter experts to ensure a verifiable and manufacturable solution that meets customer requirements

  • Act as a mentor to the program system integrators and RSE/CPEs

  • Lead and model a program mission focus and systems thinking mindset

  • Engage in and be fully cognizant of the team’s products and services which are being produced and delivered to the customer

  • Lead regular Deep Dives in special focus areas of the design based on challenges meeting requirements

  • Support internal make and external subcontract reviews, product development, troubleshooting, design, test, integration, verification, and production

  • Represent the RSE/CPE organization at various program boards and reviews (ECB, CCB, FRBs, etc.), ensuring a mission success mindset while balancing cost and schedule constraints

To promote the sharing of ideas, we at Lockheed Martin champion an inclusive work environment that supports differences and big-picture thinking.
