Job Description

  • Assess joining feasibility through Global Product Development System milestones.
  • Apply knowledge of welding processes, Rivet processes, procedures, equipment, and evaluation techniques to deliver weld quality/joining objectives.
  • Implement weld certification strategy during launch and product or process change events.
  • Understand weld schedule development and rivet control requirements.
  • Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments
  • Develop weld control and sealer plans followed with enforcing requirements.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6-panel, etc.
  • Actively participate in Simultaneous Engineering meetings, Forward Planning and Product Design to ensure MTC process is followed.
  • Lead the weekly weld meeting updating progress on spark free and weld projects performed in department.
  • Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently.
  • Support expedited concern resolution with multi-functional teams including the Quality Dept, Production, and Suppliers.
  • Follow up on PM’s/CM’s for completion and assign tasks needed to ensure joining quality.
  • Support rebuilds and maintenance tasks per manufactures specifications on all joining equipment.
  • Level 2 certified in Ultra Sonic spot weld inspection.
  • Maintain perishable items inventory and copper usage.
  • Ability to work any shift, as well as rotating shifts and weekends.


The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering

Or

  • Associate degree in Weld engineering with three or more years of welding and joining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • One or more years’ experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)


Our preferred requirements:

  • Previous experience within a high-volume production facility
  • Previous automotive, welding engineering and quality analysis experience
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and team building skills
