Software Engineer
Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:
- Support innovative projects in emerging and established domains, such as Unmanned Aerial Systems, Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Internet of Things, Robotic Process Automation, GIS, 5G, with special focus on integrating and fusing large and disparate datasets from multiple sources
- Participate in research, assessment, and adoption of emerging and new technologies and paradigms
- Help to drive business value of technological solutions via Agile definition, decomposition, and analysis of business and enabler epics, features, and user stories
- Participate in designing cutting-edge IT solutions while taking into account the constraints imposed by the existing architectures and interfaces
- Perform custom software systems design and development using modern technology stacks, approaches (Agile and DevSecOps), and Cloud environments (AWS, Azure) under the direction of and in collaboration with senior team members
- Participate in the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, middleware, and data storage and manipulation platforms
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- 1-5 years of professional experience
- Excellent communications, teamwork, and conflict management skills
- Hands-on full stack software engineering expertise using C# or Java, JavaScript frameworks and libraries, SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with developing complex and feature-rich applications, responsive web design, single page web applications, microservices architectures, scaffolding and ORM frameworks
- Good understanding of and experience with relational database management systems and ETL processes
- Familiarity with NoSQL and Big Data technologies and platforms
- Familiarity with Data Analytics and Machine Learning principles and underpinnings
- Willingness to research, learn, and experiment with software tools, technologies, and hardware
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, etc
- Experience with GIS platforms and applications
