Product Engineer 2, Tray & Packaging

The Product Engineer, Tray & Packaging develops, designs, and tests sterile and non-sterile packaging solutions that ensure safe and effective presentation of Acumed products during surgery and protection of products during transport and storage. These systems include customized surgical tray systems that facilitate product reprocessing and re-sterilization as well as sterile packaging that maintains sterile barriers throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include research, planning, idea creation and realization, concept development, specification generation, testing and validation protocols, as well as effective communication with team members, management, and customers.

This is a Hybrid role, candidate must be in or willing to relocate to the Dallas Fort Worth area .

Duties/Responsibilities

• Supports multiple product development projects for tray or packaging responsibilities.
• Creates new test protocols for more complex experiments. Applies and adapts ASTM standards as needed.
• Identifies project/product risks and assigns severity and probabilities within the Risk Management (RMR) system.
• Utilizes Root Cause Analysis tools (RCA) to investigate, analyze and resolve more difficult issues.
• Applies a wider range of statistical tools to testing methods, interpretation of test results and conclusions.
• Researches and applies Operating Room and Sterile Processing practices to support projects assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Mechanical Engineering, or Equivalent with 2 or more years’ experience preferred, or 8 years of experience working in development for medical device company.
• Good Technical Writing skills
• Working knowledge of 3D/2D software (preferably Creo), ability to model and create drawings of moderate complexity for tray system components and sterile packaging
• Knowledgeable and able to apply Level 1 & 2 GD&T principles to technical drawings
• Knowledgeable and able to apply Testing methods for evaluating sterile packaging
• Proficient in creating and managing ECO’s through completion
• Ability to read and understand medical journal articles and present data effectively to peers and perform clinical summaries and write clinical data reports.

Target Compensation: $78,658.87 – $96,138.62, plus bonus.
