The Application Support Engineer will be part of an integrated Operations & Sustainment (O&S) team providing critical 24x7 mission support to our customer and will interface with engineering resources located at other facilities. This position requires strong linux operating system experience. The Application Support Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the customer application and monitoring/investigation of segment interfaces. The Support Engineer, under the direction of the O&S Site Lead, is responsible for working with on-site database and system administration support personnel to convey and investigate system anomalies. The Application Support Engineer is responsible for investigation into operational issues and performing problem escalation with vendor, factory, on-site & east coast based Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as required. The Application Support Engineers are used to provide rotating site support (7x24) on a panama schedule to ensure system issues are identified and resolved, minimizing operational impacts - shift work is required.

Will provide user support and customer service on customer-supported computer applications and platforms. Troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action. Responsible for initial assessment, triage, research, providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, isolates problem, and determines/implements solution. The Application Support Engineer will also be responsible for collecting information through a customer conversation, accessing support tools, and additional support staff if needed.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, or electronically
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
  • Research issues using available information resources
  • Advise users on appropriate action
  • Follow standard help desk procedures and CONOPS
  • Log all customer help interactions
  • Redirect problems to correct resource
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
  • Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions
  • Prepare daily operational status briefings
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems customer facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Associates degree and 4+ year(s) related experience. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
Must currently possess a Top Secret Clearance and be able to obrain a TS with Polygraph

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with linux operating system (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferable)
Working knowledge of VMWare.
Experience with Oracle, or other relational databases.
