We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Solution Architect to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing requests for proposals (RFPs) and creating solutions based on our company's assets and vendor solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background and a proven track record of successfully designing and implementing complex solutions. This individual could be involved across many aspects of architecture including design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities, providing technical leadership, and long-range planning for aligning application and technology portfolios to business objectives.

Architects are responsible for communicating overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in. In addition, the Solution Architect will provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes RFPs and understands customer requirements and responds with written and verbal responses to all IT questions
  • Develops and presents solutions based on company assets and vendor offerings
  • Works with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with business and technical requirements
  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of our company's products, services, and capabilities
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in the design and implementation of solutions
  • Collaborates with vendors to ensure timely and effective delivery of solutions
  • Produces design models with a high degree of complexity and connects multiple domains and technologies
  • Influences and uses discretion on trade-offs with enterprise standards staying connected with engineering reality
  • Discovers the art of possible
  • Pivots between transitional architecture and strategic architecture
  • Demonstrates awareness of importance of security, performance, scalability, reliability, reuse, and feasibility in solution design
  • Proactively researches emerging trends and develops strategic recommendations
  • Communicates and negotiates direction with technical stakeholders
  • Governs where to use Data Science concepts
  • Research emerging technologies that will optimize or automate systems, evaluates feasibility and recommends solution, ensuring automation is delivering business value
  • Able to bridge the communications gaps between technical and non-technical specialists
  • Drives discussion for the identification/prioritization of solutions through analysis and brainstorming

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in Information Technology as a Solutions Architect or similar role
  • 5+ years responding to Healthcare RFP’s with written and verbal responses
  • 5+ years of experience with API development, High performing processes, high transactions systems experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies and practices and proven ability to lead cross functional teams
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-based solutions, including AWS and/or Azure and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) methodologies and practices
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects from conception to delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience eliminating complexity and unneeded interdependencies
  • Demonstrated understanding of enterprise architecture and system integration
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory environment, sales and digital experience, and channel

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
