Job Summary

Responsible for end-to-end ownership of projects across the entire stack. Build products with web frameworks, application programming interfaces, databases, and multiple Backend languages. Solve challenges that impact both the front-end and backend architecture, while delivering global customer experiences. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Job Description

Comcast provides quality video content for delighted customers all over the world. Each piece of content brings with it a universe of metadata, including what’s visible to our customers through our world-class X1 interface. This content can also come from many providers, presenting unique data management challenges.

COMET is an application provided by the Metadata Tools team that allows editorial updates to content metadata to Comcast and beyond. It gives our editorial staff a means to provide a consistent and quality experience for our video customers in the US and Europe.

The Metadata Tools team is looking for an intelligent, self-motivated software engineer to help build the future of COMET. As a part of the team, you’ll work in an agile environment as a frontend-developer on a set of organically-grown, microservices that provide a rich interface to COMET and functionality to the greater Metadata tools ecosystem.

  • will thrive working in a fast-paced Scrum team, where all team members work together coding, testing, documenting and deploying based on the priorities set by the Product Owner.
  • are open-minded and enthusiastic when trying new technologies like Go and Scala, but understand the value in leveraging our existing tech stack of Angular, Java and Spring-Boot.
  • communicate thoughts and questions in a clear, concise manner. This implies both listening carefully to critical feedback, as well as challenging others perspectives with clear justifications.
  • are comfortable building quality software with a DevSecOps mentality. Security, quality and time to market all maintain a delicate balance.
  • will proactively seek mastering Angular and other frontend technologies, to help build the best quality UI/UX for our greater tools.

Core Responsibilities
Work with engineering team, product, and user experience to understand new requirements.
Refine and estimate new deliverables.
Implement new application programming interfaces, backend services, front-end user interface components, and automation tasks to specification provided with the assistance of senior team members.
Understand platform usage and assist with production deployments and customer issue triage.
Work with engineering team to develop backend applications that can be hosted on cloud platforms.
Design and develop web applications that can function with function during backend service and internet connectivity interruptions.
Develop security features as part of the development and embrace the DevSecOps culture.
Use tools to identify and mitigate production incidents within the defined MTTR (Mean Time To Recover) key performance indicator.
Create re-usable web components that can be leveraged by multiple teams, if needed.
Create self-contained microservices or application programming interfaces to support the business logic.
Use content management systems as applicable and global design patterns and defined coding standards and practices established by the team.
Work closely with the architects and DevOps Engineers to implement the functional and technical requirements.
Create dashboards to track business and operational metrics.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as vital.
