Bell is seeking a Drive System Design Engineer to join the H-1 Program. The Drive System Design Engineer at Bell is responsible for design activities related to preparation and release of engineering data for complex mechanical components including gears, bearings, shafts, housings and other supporting components as well as subsystem integration. Furthermore, the drive system design engineer supports the manufacturing, assembly and validation of these mechanical components. Finally, the drive system design engineer ensures compliance with all best practices, customer and industry specifications in support of air vehicle performance and safety requirements. This position will have the opportunity to mentor under more experienced engineers and subject matter experts. This position is located at Bell’s headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or improve drive system definition in the form of detail, assembly and installation drive system 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software, various analytical tools, and PLM software.
  • Support manufacturing and testing of drive system components and sub-systems, working with suppliers on part development, interpreting technical data, and assisting in product improvements.
  • Support FST in the resolution of issues with fielded drive system components.
  • Participate in a cross functional team environment supporting a variety of program lifecycles.
  • Advance the state-of-the-art drive system through creative thought, personal and team research, technical compliance, and strong analysis skills.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. Major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • Multiple levels will be considered for this position with a minimum of 2 years' mechanical design experience required.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design computer aided design (CATIA V6, 3DX, etc).
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) is required.
  • Demonstrated work in a team environment and ability to effectively communication within the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks.

Position Preferences:

  • Experience developing 2D drawings, 3D models, model-based engineering, requirement capture, and specification development.
  • Experience working in an aerospace or automotive environment, focused on mechanical components such as gears, bearings, shafting, etc.
  • Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, focused on mechanical component manufacturing processes such as metal machining, heat treatments, and other specialized processes.
  • Proficiency with FEM software (ANSYS, etc.), AB Jones, KIMOS, AGMA related analysis tools, etc.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T requirements.
  • Experience working with PLM software such as ENOVIA or 3DX to drive product lifecycle.
  • Experience working on cross functional engineering programs.
  • Ability to articulate technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
