Role Summary:

Evaluate package / measurement requirements in regional projects. Familiar with overall VW-Portfolio and platform-module context. A strong view to the regionally BIC-competitors. Support the ramp up of a competitor measurement similar to VW-WOB.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Vehicle-related ergonomic concepts

  • Create CAD-alternatives and address them in a presentable format
  • Platform, baukasten and Module requirements to be considered
  • Communicate customer needs due to ergonomic targets
  • Evaluation of vehicle projects focused on ergonomics and anthropometry
  • Conception of a measurement database and reporting/presentation system
  • Summarize all relevant measurement requirements and address to the requirement engineering catalog

Project-related committee work

  • Interact and communicate with involved partners in VWoA, VWdeMexico VW AG
  • Collecting relevant requirements from other parties like sales, quality, benchmarking analysis etc.

Overall ergonomics

  • Synchronize and align measurement requirements with other engineering partners at VW
  • Translating and implementing new or modified SAE-specifications


Qualifications


Years of Experience: 5 to 7 years of engineering experience in Product-development whole vehicle


Education:

Required - Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering

Desired - Master’s Degree in passenger car engineering, concept development or related field


Skills:

  • Understanding of measurements and package-relations
  • Excellent creative thinking and communication skills. Able to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external business partners

Specialized Skills:

Required:

  • Proven successes in developing passenger cars and SUV’s
  • Understanding of US automotive market, individual market requirements, and trends
  • Knowledge of automotive customer needs in vehicle concepts
  • Automotive series development experience
  • Strong understanding of automotive development processes & ability to partner with automotive engineering & design teams to ensure high impact

Desired:

  • Familiar with automotive CAD tools & processes.
  • Familiar with CAD-data management
  • Familiar with packaging
  • Familiar with SAE-Definitions
  • Familiar with the VW-PEP

Work Flexibility:

We work globally with some great teams and partners. You must be willing and able to occasionally travel to worldwide locations in order to:

  • Participate in requirement workshops
  • Attend working skype-meetings with international engineering partners (Europe, China , South America…)
  • Attend international conferences regionally and with other continental time zones

In Oxnard, California, the salary range for this role is $85900 – $122500, depending on education and experience.
