Job Description
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, network security, network administration, cyber security or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in information/cyber security system support, preferably in a governmental setting. or;- Associate Degree in computer science, information technology, network security, network administration, cyber security or a related field with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in information/cyber security support, preferably in a governmental setting, or;
- High School Diploma with ten (10) years of recent specific job-related experience in information/cyber security support, preferably in a governmental setting.
Certification in an Information Security field is preferred. Knowledge of current security risks and protocols with a willingness to work on-call in the event of a security incident or other emergency. Good analytic and problem-solving skills. Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions. Ability to work under general supervision, as well as the ability to take independent initiative when needed. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the employee’s Department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
Under general supervision, performs specialized technical work in implementing security measures to protect the City’s technology infrastructure. The Information Security Analyst will monitor the network and provide early warnings of abnormalities or problems. Employee will analyze existing security systems and make recommendations for changes or improvements. Employee will prepare reports and action plans if a security incident occurs. Work also involves organizing and conducting tests and “ethical hacks” of the existing security architecture. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Reports to the Network Operations Manager.
Develops plans to implement, upgrade, and monitor security measures for the protection of the City's computer information systems.
Safeguards computer systems against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure to meet data processing needs.
Monitors use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information.
Monitors current reports of computer viruses, malware and threats to determine when to update or upgrade security protection systems.
Works with the Network Operations team to interpret and analyze log information from various security hardware and software systems.
Reviews information and act accordingly to limit and remove security risks and mitigate unauthorized access or breaches.
Documents computer security and emergency measures policies, procedures, and tests.
Coordinates implementation of computer system plan with city personnel and outside vendors.
Confers with users to discuss issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, and application security modification measures.
Reviews violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated.
Trains users and promote security awareness to ensure computer systems security and to improve overall security posture.

Vision Insurance: Vision coverage includes an annual eye exam, frames and lenses or contact lenses in lieu of eyeglasses.
Life Insurance: The City of Palm Bay provides each employee with life insurance in the amount of one time their annual base salary at no cost. Additional coverage is available at the employee's cost up to the Guaranteed Issue amount of $250,000.
Dependent/Spouse Life Insurance: The City of Palm Bay provides each employee with dependent/spouse life insurance in the amount of $5,000 per dependent at no cost. Additional coverage is available at the employee's cost.
Short Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's annual base salary during a short-term disability period not to exceed 26 weeks.
Long Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's salary at time of disability after a 180 consecutive day waiting period.
Defined Contribution Retirement Plan: City contributes a base of 3%. Employees may contribute up to 6% and the City will match the employees contribution.
Holidays: 10 holidays and 1 birthday holiday.
Paid Leave: Accrue 96 hours of vacation and sick leave per year. Accrued vacation hours increase after 10 years of service. Administrative leave for exempt employees – 48 hours per year.
