Purpose of the Job:
Responsibilities:
- Perform functions to develop / maintain / improve manufacturing processes to produce product using the most efficient and economical methods by using Engineering, Lean, and Six-Sigma Methodologies.
- Projects will be aligned to the company’s directive whether through the use and implementation of new equipment, modifications to equipment or performing Kaizen events.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):
Qualifications:
- Support and lead projects in the manufacturing processes of fabrication, welding, paint and assembly using the latest industry techniques to ensure processes are safe, reduce risks to operations and are efficient and effective. Use concepts that incorporate Lean, SMED, 5-S and flow line concepts.
- Design and document manufacturing processes that include process work instructions thru Microsoft office programs. Document manufacturing processes of fabrication and welding through tool design on solid modeling and MRP software
- Design and document fixtures used in the manufacturing processes thru solid modeling software. Ensure fixtures and gages are documented and tracked by Quality.
- Programming of Computer-Aided manufacturing equipment and robotics
- Update files and programs that support manufacturing processes due to design changes, including routings, BOM’s, prints and machine programs.
- Actively participate and lead teams in problem identification and problem-solving techniques.
- Manage key projects to include drawing/facility layouts, schedules, budget development, team identification, roles/responsibilities and leadership updates.
- Identify, perform and document risk analysis and risk mitigation efforts using applicable quality tools (5-Whys, fish bone diagram, value stream mapping, process flow, etc…) to facilitate process, product, equipment improvements and cost reductions where applicable.
- Assist in customer complaints which will include return analysis, actionable data collection, and improvements implemented, in order to improve the product quality.
- Actively Participate/Support in the execution and maintenance of PFMEA’s.
- Lead in the investigation and implementation of new technology / CAPEX Projects to improve cost and efficiency of producing product.
- Lead / support the NPD process from the Manufacturing Engineering perspective.
- Develop, collaborate and maintain strong relationships within the Manufacturing, NPD, Sustaining, Quality and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Identify and drive cost reduction and continuous improvement projects that improve efficiencies, productivity, on-time delivery, reduce scrap and quality incidence, improve yield, improve ergonomics, reduce safety incidence, etc.
- Lead and support projects, which support Corporate Cost Reduction targets.
- All other duties as directed by manager.
Experience & Education:

- Undergraduate degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Demonstrated competencies in Fabrication or Welding of 3-5 years is beneficial.
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.
- Good understanding of Lean Concepts.
- SolidWorks proficient or similar solid modeling software
- Mechanical aptitude
- Geometric Measurement, Dimensioning and Tolerancing experience
- Blueprint reading
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills
- Financial competency
- Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of associates up to and including Senior Management.
- Self-starter with high energy level.
