The RabbitMQ Solutions Architect (SA) plays a critical role in building and sustaining customer relationships while driving the adoption of VMware Tanzu solutions to achieve our revenue goals.

A typical day in this role:

• Architect and deliver messaging solutions to various public clouds and on-premise platforms that meet the client's needs.

• Understand client goals and formulate that into an actionable backlog that is understood and supported from executives to engineers.

• Be recognized by the client as a subject-matter expert as it relates to RabbitMQ, Kafka, other messaging software and event driven architectures.

• Work collaboratively with Product Management, Technical Marketing and Engineering during the development, launch and continued refinement of VMware Tanzu products.

• Pair programming with clients and other VMware Tanzu Labs engineers to build/modernize software based on the team’s backlog

• Enabling your client pairs on how to do the above for themselves

• Providing technical leadership and direction to customer engagements

• Facilitating group events (i.e. discovery workshops, event storms and value stream mapping sessions, in/outceptions, stand-ups and iteration planning meetings)

• Meeting with existing and prospective customers to assist sales efforts

VMware Data Architects / Engineers are responsible for:

• Delighting our customers by ensuring successful outcomes to their platform and application journeys.

• Hands-on deployment and optimization of complex architectures, and advancing customer thinking and awareness within the Modern Applications space

• The ideal candidate is action-oriented, collaborative, a continuous learner and has strong customer presence

• Enabling customer engineers with modern techniques for implementing modern data design patterns

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience designing and implementing messaging systems using RabbitMQ, Kafka or other messaging software

• Java expertise, with experience and familiarity building modern Spring applications with Spring Boot; you are proficient with Spring and related projects

• Expertise building distributed, service oriented, cloud based systems

• Have implemented cloud native applications or can demonstrate a thorough understanding of cloud native architecture

• Experience with full-stack development

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Comfortable in new situations with new clients

• 3+ years of software development experience

• Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems

• Experience with Domain Driven Design

• Experience modernizing legacy applications/systems in languages such as Java or .NET

• Experience facilitating groups of people

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience with .NET Framework and/or .NET Core

• Experience with Kubernetes, Chef, Ansible, BOSH, or related automation / orchestration tools

• Experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or OpenStack

• Experience using VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T

• Expertise in networking and related technologies (e.g. load balancing / DNS / SSL / firewalls / NAT / SDN)

• Expertise building CI/CD pipelines

• Solid understanding of systems monitoring, alerting and analytics

• Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) and agile methodologies, including refactoring

• Background in Windows deployment, automation, and related technologies

Education

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Travel: When travel opens up again, this role is expected to have no more than 33% travel requirement
