TRANSITING EXOPLANET SURVEY SATELLITE (TESS) QUICK-LOOK PIPELINE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, to provide software development and review for the enhancement of the TESS Quick-Look Pipeline for identification and discovery of exoplanets and other astrophysical phenomena. Will be responsible for the professionalization of scientist-generated code, interfacing with the astrophysics research team, and development of new code for enhanced capabilities and process improvement. Will review, maintain, professionalize, and enhance photometry and light curve processing software and associated software tools; execute image reduction and planet search pipeline on a per-sector basis; maintain backup data sets for image data and pipeline output products; contribute, as needed, to additional software development efforts for the TOI team; provide code review support to other TESS software development efforts; contribute to the planning of storage, backup, and processing for computing resources; and perform other duties as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in computer science, astronomy, or a related field; experience with writing and maintaining code in Python, version management with git, and remote login via SSH; general familiarity with the Linux command line; ability to work in a team-based environment across all levels and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels; attention to detail; and willingness to learn new technical tasks.
