Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Powertrain Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the operations of Powertrain manufacturing, while applying innovative ideas and technology to advance the company to become the global leader.
The person in this role will support the Powertrain department's objective to provide excellent engineering support and leadership.
What you’ll be doing
- Mass Production Engineering support for Powertrain Assembly or Machining operations.
- Apply Toyota Production System tools and methodologies of 5-why problem solving to eliminate and prevent recurrence of machining and assembly process inefficiencies.
- Utilize teamwork approach and mindset to develop working relationships for stronger, more effective future partnerships.
- Use a methodical and data driven analytical approach to continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost problems and report status to management members.
- Manage projects by creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting established due dates and milestones.
- Search for innovative solutions, test them in a manufacturing setting, and develop business case justification to gain approval to purchase if trials prove successful.
- Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specification is met from planning to production usage.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering or similar technical field or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in an engineering role for automotive manufacturing
- Experience in an Engineering role in manufacturing
- Experience working in a Toyota manufacturing facility
- Experience applying just-in-time and problem-solving tools and methodologies such as Toyota Business Practice and 5-why analysis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience in a leadership role with successful, quantifiable results related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and/or Cost improvements
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including 2nd shift (on occasion), weekends and holidays/shutdown, dependent on business needs
- Experience with project management including writing detailed scope of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates
Added bonus if you have
- Experience with machine tools and industrial manufacturing equipment including CNC machining centers, grinding machines, milling machines, lathing machines, automated nutrunners, and leak testers
- Experience successfully applying artificial intelligence technology
- Experience creating applications and manufacturing solutions using software/web development such as Power Apps, SQL, HTML, Visual Studio, and/or Javascript
- Working experience with Microsoft Power BI (including data importation, slicer manipulation, report creation and troubleshooting)
