Position Description:
HRS Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Business Process Engineer to provide best value healthcare and professional consulting services to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Qualified candidates will have experience developing and implementing diverse, enterprise-wide healthcare processes and application systems. Experience with health system/healthcare processes in a government agency is preferred.
Location Note: Qualified candidates must reside in the Washington DC Metro area and remain available for on-site work and/or travel, as required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supporting business process reengineering, business process improvement, business process management, change management and transition, and executive support
  • Managing and supporting analysis, design, development, and implementation of diverse, enterprise-wide healthcare processes and application systems
  • Providing innovative approaches to healthcare programs to ensure successful transformational efforts
  • Conducting studies in support of system redesign and business process reengineering (BPR)
  • Improving and managing business processes
  • Defining process narratives and documenting workflow
  • Developing implementation plans
  • Supporting the design study process for implementing and sustaining improvements
  • Gathering and defining business application requirements, and writing detailed business and system design requirements
  • Attending BPR meetings to facilitate and present findings
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Eligibility to obtain Veterans Affairs (VA) suitability approval to access agency computer systems and facilities required to start work; current VA credentials preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Studies in Business, Statistics, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • 6+ years of related experience supporting business process improvements and providing solutions for business process reengineering
  • Experience with the design study process
  • Experience implementing process modernization, improvement through analysis, reengineering methodologies, and best practice principles
  • Experience evaluating procedures and processes against strategic plans to support process improvement efforts
  • Experience with health system/healthcare processes in a government setting
  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange information with co-workers, teammates, stakeholders, and other personnel, as required
  • Proficiency working across the Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk, attending meetings, and using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and video teleconferencing equipment.
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, the ability to move office items such as files, laptop/computer equipment, meeting materials, and other work supplies may require carrying and lifting items up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Business travel may be required.
