Position Overview
As an Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overall management of the Invenergy Third Party renewable fleet. You will directly supervise the supporting Electrical Engineers, leading a team of engineers, and oversee day-to-day responsibilities, provide guidance for technical decisions, and manage growth and organization of team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage team supporting Third Party operating facilities, including electrical troubleshooting, review of digital fault records, relays, and other operational data for planned and unplanned electrical events
- Support onboarding of engineers, including development and execution of training
- Identify and delegate responsibilities for engineers across wind, solar and battery storage facilities
- Guide team in decision-making for issues involving electrical safety
- Coordinate substation and balance of plant electrical maintenance program, including NERC-required/NETA-recommended testing and inspections
- Support employee development, including bi-annual reviews and setting expectations for growth
- Assist in budgeting and future project planning for operating fleet
- Spearhead long-term action items and projects to improve reliability or efficiency of electrical systems
- Support NERC compliance team with audits, reporting, documentation, and policies for operating facilities
- Support project and construction managers on new project commissioning and turnover
Required Skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- 5-10 years of work experience with HV/MV electrical systems
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, high voltage electrical equipment & relay protection
- Strong working knowledge of NESC and ANSI/IEEE standards and codes
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Strong project management skills
- Some travel is required
- Must be available for some after office hours support
Preferred
- Knowledge of renewable generation systems (wind turbine, solar panels, battery storage) and their controls is a plus
- Practical or field experience in electrical substation reliability and maintenance is a plus
- Prior management experience is a plus
