Job Description
- Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical team members using strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading projects, detailing project phases, and supporting project implementation with a professional and positive attitude.
- Strong demonstrated experience in an iterative development environment
- Experience with data analysis, data modeling, and complex systems integration
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and close attention to detail
- Experience in successful trouble-shooting and problem solving in the context of enterprise systems and data, and with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
- Experience in designing/modifying web content
- Experience vetting and managing external learning tool integrations with the HIS/LIMS.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience in medical/laboratory fields.
- Demonstrated ability to elicit and document user and business requirements using techniques appropriate to the audience and environment.
- A strong sense of ownership and commitment to follow-through for both individual and team projects is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently but closely as one team member of many, especially across functional and political boundaries with individuals of varying experience and influence levels.
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git)
- Understanding of data definitions and data governance
The Information Technology (IT) Analyst for the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will provide support for the college’s two large business units and work closely with IT professionals in both units to provide support.
The position will be a mix of working collaboratively and independently on specific IT tasks and goals. The position has a formalized project management structure for tracking progress, work product. A successful candidate would understand and have experience in Project Management, developing solutions for users’ and business process owners’ specific IT needs, and a broad range of IT skill sets and interests. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to operate in an ambiguous environment are also needed.
Job Responsibilities:
30% - System Maintenance
- Develop test conditions based on business requirements. Execute functional and system tests.
- Perform administrative tasks in the HIS (Hospital Information System)/LIMS (Lab Information Management System) as needed (e.g., run reports, enrollment extracts when necessary, user management, data entry, course management, interface, system monitoring, content management, functionality validation.)
- Assist and participate in the installation of all system updates and upgrades, as well as tools and software integrated with the HIS/LIMS.
- Communicate effectively to a wide variety of constituents about the status of the HIS/LIMS and the impact of changes in features and tools.
30% - Project Management
- Manage multiple simultaneous small projects from concept to completion. Communicate with end users and business process owners to ensure desired outcomes are achieved and expectations are effectively managed. Create functional designs and related process flows.
- Develop and manage work estimates, expectations, and project plans including priorities, deliverables, timelines, and coordination of efforts including scheduling and facilitation of meetings
30% - Development/Design
- Learn new applications, technologies, and skills independently through hands-on experimentation. Proactively identify opportunities to improve approaches, processes and services.
- Develops workflows, scripts, and replicable analysis processes to automate metadata management and complex metadata reporting and analysis.
- Contribute to development of existing and new applications, products, and services by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
- Align technology solutions with short- and long-term business strategies.
10% - User Support
- Meet with users and business process owners to elicit and understand requirements, translate research and business needs into data terms, and facilitate shared understanding amongst multiple stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively with other CVM IT personnel e.g. VMC HIS/LIS administrator, PACS administrator and VMC developer/interface specialist
