Description of Work Unit
The Division of Information Technology, the central IT organization for Colorado State University-Ft. Collins, supports the land-grant heritage of the institution as well as the university’s missions of teaching and learning, research, and service. The Division of IT is responsible for delivering enterprise and campus focused IT services for the Ft. Collins campus as well as throughout the CSU-System. Areas of responsibility include Research IT, Application Development and User Support Services, Academic Technology, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Networking and Telecommunications, Infrastructure and Databases, Business Intelligence and Data Integrations, Administrative Applications, and Student Applications.

Position Summary
Senior level developer analyst and team leader/technical lead position located in CSU’s Division of IT. This position supports the University’s financial system (Kuali Finance) and related systems by providing production support and designing, implementing, and maintaining integrations and automated processing. Job duties include: assessment and prioritization of incoming work items and constantly shifting priorities; assigning and communicating work to team; analyzing business needs to determine technical solutions; researching emerging computer hardware and software technologies to determine their applicability to current and future systems; providing financial system modification and enhancement plans, documenting technical designs and business processes; working closely with and providing expert advice to Division of IT management, CSU Business and Financial Services stakeholders, Kuali Research stakeholders, 3rd party vendors such as Kuali, and peer institutions.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related degree plus three years’ of professional level experience.
  • Candidates with a High School Diploma (or GED) plus a minimum 7 years related professional experience will be considered for employment (without the required bachelors or other post-secondary education).
  • 5 or more years’ experience with enterprise-level application development in a project or lead developer capacity
  • 2 or more years’ experience designing and developing integrations in an enterprise iPaaS platform.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills to support customer’s enterprise level business requirements.

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Prior professional IT experience in a higher education environment.
  • Prior application development experience in any Kuali application (such as Kuali Financial System, Kuali Coeus, Kuali Rice, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience with web application supporting infrastructure such as Apache Tomcat, Oracle WebLogic and JVM environments.

Duty/Responsibility
  • Attendance at weekly Division of IT meetings to plan, communicate, collaborate and coordinate work activities with management team and other team leaders.
  • Scheduling and leading regular team meetings.
  • Mentoring team members.
  • Oversight and management of service requests using IT Service Management tool such as TeamDynamix, including ticket and project task prioritization, scheduling, assignment to other team members, and approval for changes to be implemented in production.
  • Attendance and participation in appropriate, regularly-scheduled stakeholder meetings.
  • Collaborates with manager(s) on resource needs and assignments.
  • Meets with other Division of IT teams such as DBA or Systems Support for the purpose of communicating and coordinating team requests.

  • Serves as primary contact and liaison with Research Services technical unit to plan and coordinate related work activities for the Kuali research system.

  • Technical lead and top level contributor in areas of Kuali systems planning, requirements/analysis/design, code development, testing, implementation and operational support.
  • Acts as a technical and data expert and analyst, and provides system architectural guidance in areas of responsibility.
  • Represents the University by participating with other Kuali institutions on the KFS Technical Implementation Council.
  • Plans for both major upgrades to Kuali financial system and related systems, and significant enhancements to existing systems by interviewing administrative management, assessing client requirements, evaluating alternative options, recommending plans of action to Information Systems management, and creating implementation schedules for approved projects.
  • Designs information systems solutions by conferring with clients, analyzing system requirements, reviewing technical constraints, and documenting system specifications.
  • Implements computer information systems by defining system acceptance standards, confirming system test results with administrative clients, creating a transition strategy when appropriate, training client and technical operational staff, and performing post-implementation reviews.
  • Analyzes system functionality problems by investigating reported problems, recommending and prioritizing corrective actions, defining test plans to assure the quality of the system changes, and scheduling production control changes with client and operational staff.
  • Designs, develops and supports the process development of integrations in an enterprise iPaaS solution.
  • Provide support of scheduled production job processes, sometimes outside of the scheduled work hours. Identify and correct the cause of job failures and implement the most appropriate solution to expedite the completion of the production schedules. Advise other staff members in solving complex production issues
